L'Oreal Paris Extraordinary Oil Nourishing Conditioner For Dry & Dull Hair, 180ml

The Extraordinary Oil range was L'Oréal's late-2010s bet that Indian buyers wanted to move beyond "repair" and toward "nourishment" — a positioning borrowed from professional lines like Kerastase Elixir Ultime. The conditioner uses a blend of six flower-derived oils (rose, tiaré, chamomile, sunflower, lotus, linseed) plus dimethicone silicones to coat and soften the hair fibre.

After three weeks of thrice-weekly washes on wavy, medium-density hair, this was the conditioner that delivered the most dramatic softness upgrade over baseline. Hair felt satiny to the touch, looked visibly shinier under natural light, and behaved better under a wide-tooth comb. This is not a repair or protein conditioner — do not expect strength gains or breakage reduction — but for pure dryness and dullness, it is a strong pick at ₹185 for 180 ml (₹1.03 per ml).

The 180 ml orange-and-brown bottle — the largest size in this price band from L'Oréal — has been the visual signature of the line since launch. The flip-cap is one of the better ones we tested; it stays closed reliably and dispenses cleanly. Formula is a rich caramel-orange cream, on the thicker side of the mainstream conditioner spectrum.

Fragrance is the star and the divisive point: it is a warm, oily, honey-and-flower blend that some buyers find luxurious and others find overpowering. It lingers 4-6 hours on hair. If you love the scent of Ayurvedic hair oils but want a modern conditioner delivery, this is a good match. A five-rupee-coin size portion covers mid-lengths to ends on shoulder-length hair; a small amount goes a long way because the formula is rich.

Moisture and softness are best-in-class for the price. Hair feels immediately softer under the fingers post-wash and stays soft between washes. This is the go-to conditioner in our test rotation for post-beach or post-summer dryness recovery.

Shine is the second strength. The oil-heavy formula sits on the cuticle and reflects light, giving hair a natural, slightly wet-looking gloss. Not as glassy as L'Oréal Glycolic Gloss (which uses acid chemistry to lay the cuticle flat), but a warmer, more natural-looking shine.

Detangling is excellent — heavy silicone-plus-oil combination gives significant slip. A wide-tooth comb passes through in one stroke on shoulder-length hair.

Frizz control is decent — 8-10 hours in moderate humidity. Not the anti-frizz specialist that TRESemmé Keratin Smooth is, but the oil content helps in dry weather where frizz is caused by moisture loss.

Weight and build-up: this is the biggest caveat. On fine, oily hair the richness weighs down the roots and dulls volume within 2-3 washes. Use only mid-lengths to ends, keep away from the scalp, and clarify with a sulfate shampoo weekly to avoid build-up.
