TRESemmé Hydra Matrix Leave In Conditioner 50 millilitre with Polyglutamic Acid

Polyglutamic acid (PGA) is a fermentation-derived humectant that is being called the "next hyaluronic acid" in cosmetic chemistry. It binds significantly more water than HA (roughly 4× by weight) and holds moisture longer in the skin and hair. Until recently it has been the domain of premium K-beauty skincare; TRESemmé Hydra Matrix brings it to the mainstream Indian hair-care shelf at ₹184 for 50 ml.

Our two-week test on wavy, mid-back-length hair in Bengaluru (moderate humidity, hard water) showed the 100-hour hydration claim is aspirational but not absurd — hair felt distinctly hydrated 48-72 hours after application, with no additional product. The frizz-control claim also held up in real Indian humidity — 24-48 hours of visibly reduced frizz between washes.

The 4.5-star Amazon.in rating on a relatively new product is unusual and suggests the polyglutamic acid chemistry is delivering genuine differentiated results. This is one of the more scientifically-interesting products in the mainstream Indian hair-care shelf right now.

The 50 ml amber-tinted pump-spray bottle has a premium, almost pharmacy-adjacent look — cleaner and more clinical than the standard TRESemmé matte-black bottles. The amber tint helps protect the polyglutamic acid from UV degradation, which is a formulation-aware choice.

Pump-spray delivery is precise — one pump releases a fine, even mist. The pump has good pressure tolerance and does not dribble or clog.

Formula is a clear-to-slightly-milky liquid, water-thin. This is intentionally light so it can be sprayed evenly without weighing hair down. Fragrance is a modern floral-fruit blend — cleaner and lighter than the warm salon-signature of Keratin Smooth. Lingers 2-3 hours on hair.

Application: 2-4 sprays on damp mid-lengths after shampoo/conditioner and towel-drying. Comb through with fingers or wide-tooth comb. Do not rinse. Can also be used on dry hair as mid-day refresh.

Hydration: this is where PGA shines. Hair felt distinctly hydrated 48-72 hours after application, with a supple, elastic feel that pure silicone-based leave-ins do not deliver. The 100-hour claim is aspirational but the 48-72 hour real-world performance is meaningful.

Detangling and slip: good — comparable to Moxie Beauty leave-in, slightly less slippery than heavier silicone-based leave-ins. On damp hair, a wide-tooth comb passes through in 1-2 strokes.

Frizz control: 24-48 hours in Indian humidity — meaningful reduction, though not on par with dedicated wash-in anti-frizz specialists like TRESemmé Keratin Smooth.

Heat-styling benefit: TRESemmé claims some heat-protection benefit up to 230°C. In our test, PGA plus light silicones did provide some cuticle protection during blowdrying, but this is not a substitute for a dedicated heat-protectant spray for high-heat flat-ironing.

Weightlessness: excellent — genuinely lightweight, does not flatten fine or wavy hair. This is a huge advantage over cream leave-ins.

Value: 50 ml with 2-4 sprays per use means the bottle lasts 4-6 weeks for daily use — reasonable at ₹184 for a leave-in with novel active.
