After a generation of incremental Pixel 9 Pro XL refinements, the Pixel 10 Pro XL is the first big-screen Pixel that finally feels like the AI-first showcase Google has been promising since the original Tensor launched. The 6.8-inch Super Actua LTPO OLED hits 3,300 nits peak brightness — bright enough to actually read in Mumbai noon sun without shielding the screen — and the silky matte Gorilla Glass Victus 2 back finally sheds the glossy fingerprint magnet of earlier Pros. India gets three colours (Moonstone, Jade and Obsidian) sold via Amazon.in (Sold by super-sales1 in our review listing), Flipkart and the Google Store, with the 16 GB / 256 GB single configuration as the only SKU at launch.

Under the glass, the new Google Tensor G5 is the headline change. It is Google's first chip fabricated on TSMC's N3 process (previous Tensors were Samsung-foundry parts), with a TPU Google says is up to 60% more powerful than Tensor G4 and a CPU averaging 34% faster across the lineup. In real-world use that translates to a quieter, cooler day-to-day experience than the Pixel 9 Pro XL in Indian summer conditions — the Tensor G4's reputation for thermal throttling under sustained load was deserved, and G5 is a meaningful step forward, even if it still trails Apple's A19 Pro and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 on raw geekbench peaks. We've been carrying the 16 GB / 256 GB Obsidian review unit (ASIN B0FQNBZ6MF on Amazon.in) for several weeks, and this guide is built around what works in India, what doesn't, and how the Pixel 10 Pro XL actually compares to the iPhone 17 Pro Max and the Galaxy S26 Ultra — the two flagships every Pixel buyer also cross-shops at this price.

The Pixel 10 Pro XL measures 162.8 × 76.6 × 8.5 mm and weighs 232 g — identical footprint to the Pixel 9 Pro XL but with a noticeably smoother diamond-cut camera bar that flows into the silky matte glass back instead of standing proud. The frame is spacecraft-grade aluminium (100% recycled in the housing per Google), the front and back are both Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and the device carries an IP68 rating for 1.5 m freshwater immersion. At 232 g the XL is one of the heavier flagships you can buy in India — within a gram of the iPhone 17 Pro Max but 18 g heavier than the slimmer Galaxy S26 Ultra — so an hour of vertical Insta-scrolling does make itself felt.

Buttons are stacked on the right edge with the textured power key above the volume rocker (an inversion from Samsung's layout), the Type-C 3.2 port and stereo speaker grille sit at the bottom, and the SIM tray houses one nano-SIM with eSIM as the second slot — there is no microSD. The big design upgrade this year is Pixelsnap: Google's built-in Qi2 magnet array on the back accepts MagSafe-style cases, stands and chargers without a sleeve. The retail box in India is barebones — the phone, a 1 m USB-C-to-USB-C 2.0 cable and a SIM eject pin. There is no charger, no case, no screen protector and no wired earphones. To actually hit the advertised 70%-in-30-minutes wired charging speed you will need to buy a 45W USB-C PD PPS-capable adapter separately (the Google 45W charger sells for around ₹3,400 on Amazon.in; any USB-PD 3.0 PPS 45W brick will work).

Google Tensor G5 is the most consequential Pixel chip in three generations. Manufactured on TSMC's N3 process (a real geometry shrink from G4's Samsung 4LPP node), it delivers a 34% average CPU uplift, a 60% more powerful TPU and an upgraded ISP that drives the camera and Video Boost. In day-to-day use that means app launches, scrolling and AI tasks like background image processing all happen with noticeably less of the Pixel-9-era hot-back warning that plagued long camera sessions. Sustained gaming is still the chip's weakest scenario — push BGMI on Ultra HD or Genshin Impact at 60 fps Highest for 30+ minutes and you will see frame drops creep in well before they would on a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 device like the OnePlus 15 or the Galaxy S26 Ultra. For most Indian buyers that is an acceptable trade — Pixel buyers prioritise camera and AI, not sustained gaming — but if you game heavily, this is the wrong flagship.

The Pro triple-camera is the reason most people actually buy a Pixel XL, and the 10 Pro XL's rear array is genuinely class-leading on computational photography. The 50 MP wide uses an f/1.68 aperture and a 1/1.3-inch sensor — Pixel's brightest main yet — and Night Sight on this hardware is still the best low-light pipeline in the segment, recovering shadow detail in a candle-lit Bandra street scene the iPhone 17 Pro Max simply does not see. The new 48 MP 5x telephoto lens (f/2.8, 22° FOV) is the single biggest upgrade over the Pixel 9 Pro XL: 5x optical, 10x at "optical-quality" via sensor crop, and Pro Res Zoom now scales cleanly up to 100x with markedly less of the painted-watercolour artefacts that made earlier Super Res Zoom shots unusable past 30x. The 48 MP ultra-wide (f/1.7, 123° FOV, 1/2.55-inch) doubles as a Macro Focus camera and is the wider-aperture pick for low-light landscape shots. Up front, the 42 MP f/2.2 selfie camera with a 103° ultrawide FOV and dual-pixel autofocus produces sharper, less waxy skin tones than every Pixel before it.

Video is where Tensor G5's ISP earns its keep: the rear camera now records 8K at 24/30 fps via Video Boost (a cloud-assisted pipeline — initial capture is local, the high-res master is processed asynchronously when the phone is on Wi-Fi and charging) and 4K at up to 60 fps with optical image stabilisation, Night Sight Video and Cinematic Blur. Battery life from the 5,200 mAh typical (5,079 mAh rated) cell is a genuine 24-hour-plus performer in our use — a heavy day of camera, navigation, hotspot and YouTube comes home with 25-35% left. Charging is the weak link: 45W wired (charger not included) gets you to about 70% in 30 minutes, while 25W Pixelsnap Qi2 wireless is excellent for a magnetic standard but lags the 80W+ wired-charging brick that comes with a Vivo X300 Pro at half the price. AI features that work in India today include Gemini Live, Magic Cue, Magic Editor, Best Take, Add Me, Pixel Screenshots, Live Translate (limited Indian language pairs) and Call Assist. Some Pixel features remain region-/language-gated by Google — Hold for Me, Direct My Call and certain Gemini functions are not all available in India yet, so check g.co/pixel before assuming a specific feature works on your unit.
