The OnePlus Nord Buds 3r is OnePlus India's anchor product in the busy ₹1,500-₹2,000 true-wireless segment, and on Amazon.in it now sits with 45,467 ratings, a 4.3-star average, the Amazon's Choice badge, and "30K+ bought in past month" against a deal price of ₹1,799 (down from a ₹1,999 MRP). It is the cheaper, ANC-free sibling of the Nord Buds 3 and Nord Buds 3 Pro, and the natural step-up from boAt and realme's sub-₹1,000 trays of half-in-ear buds.

We're reviewing it the way an Indian buyer at this price actually makes the call: how good are the 12.4mm titanium-coated drivers compared with the boAt Airdopes 141 Gen 2 at ₹799 and the realme Buds T310 at ₹1,899; whether the 54-hour battery claim survives 50% volume real-world use; how much of the marketing — OnePlus 3D Audio, AI Translation, Tap 2 Take, Sound Master EQ — actually works on a non-OnePlus phone; and whether it is worth stretching another ₹500 for the Nord Buds 3 to get 32dB ANC. The short version: if you're inside the OnePlus ecosystem this is the easiest recommendation in the segment. Outside it, the value still holds — but you lose enough features that the realme Buds T310 becomes a serious cross-shop.

The Nord Buds 3r uses an in-ear silicone-tipped form factor with a short stem — the same family resemblance as every Nord Buds since the original, but with a slightly more compact case and a redesigned stem that is roughly 8% shorter than the Nord Buds 2r. Each bud weighs around 4.3 grams and the stem houses the touch zone, the dual-mic array (one beam-forming mic plus one anti-wind mic) and the charging contacts. Three pairs of silicone tips ship in the box for fit tuning; the factory-fitted medium tip will work for most adults.

The charging case is matte plastic, oval-stadium shaped, with a single front-facing battery LED and a USB-C charging port on the bottom. There is no wireless charging pad. The buds carry an IP55 dust-and-water rating per OnePlus's own spec sheet, which means light rain, sweat and dust are handled — the case is not rated. There is no USB-C charging cable in the box — you supply your own, which is a real cost-cutting decision and the single most-flagged "gotcha" in Amazon reviews.

Out of the box the Nord Buds 3r is tuned bass-forward, in line with what Indian listeners on Bollywood, Punjabi, Hindi rap and EDM playlists expect at this price. The 12.4mm titanium-coated drivers push a thicker, more controlled low-end than the 8mm dynamic in the Airdopes 141 Gen 2, and mids are more present than the V-shaped curve on most ₹1,000-class buds — male vocals on Arijit Singh and acoustic tracks come through cleaner. Treble rolls off early enough to avoid harshness on lossy YouTube and Reels audio. If you find the bass overcooked, Sound Master EQ in the HeyMelody app gives you Balanced, Serenade and Bass presets plus a 6-band custom EQ — set the lower bands to -3 dB and the signature opens up considerably for vocal-first listening.

Battery life is the headline. OnePlus rates the buds at 12 hours per charge and 54 hours combined with the case at 50% volume on AAC, and our real-world commute-and-WFH testing landed at roughly 9-10 hours per bud at 60% volume — well inside the rated envelope. The 10-minute fast charge genuinely produces around 8 hours of playback, and OnePlus separately ships a TÜV Rheinland Battery Health certification that promises ≥80% capacity after 1,000 charge cycles, which translates to roughly 2.5-3 years of daily use before you notice meaningful battery decay.

Calls are good but not class-leading. The two-microphone array with anti-wind design strips out fans, indoor chatter and keyboard noise cleanly, and on home-office calls voices come through full-bodied. Step into outdoor traffic or a Mumbai local platform and the algorithm thins your voice noticeably; this is where Nord Buds 4 Pro's three-mic array would help. The 47ms low-latency gaming mode is a different story — switch it on (automatic on OnePlus phones, manual via HeyMelody on others) and the audio-video lag in BGMI, Free Fire and CoD Mobile drops below the perceptual threshold for casual ranked play. Bluetooth 5.4 with the 10-metre rated range held a stable phone-to-pocket link through one drywall in our test, with quick reconnects on the dual-device pairing setup. Two real software caveats: OnePlus 3D Audio is locked to OnePlus 11/12/13 series, Nord 4/5/CE5, OnePlus Open and OxygenOS 12+ tablets — non-OnePlus Android phones and all iPhones will not see the 3D Audio toggle; and AI Translation requires OxygenOS 15.0.1 or higher on a supported OnePlus device, so an iPhone 15 user buying these buds for travel translation will not get that feature. There is also no in-ear detection sensor — pulling a bud out of your ear will not auto-pause music, you have to tap the stem.
